The Quest (ions)

What is my priority?
Is it poetry, writing screenplays, or IT?
I can do it all, but what's in it for me?
Is it happiness? Is it money?
Is it freedom from drudgery?
In this mundane world of slavery?
Where people act more and more...
Like whores?
The fire's getting higher and hotter
A spark of desire, like water
Is what I need to quench this thirst
Before it gets worse
It's certainly not my fate to embody hate
But I have a lot of influences pulling me disparate ways
Why do I still feel afraid? I'm supposed to be brave
The future's like a store, I'm about to go shop
I have a good feeling that shit's about to pop
All I have to do is let my barriers drop
As these talents, seeded at birth
Reveal slowly but surely, and as I unearth
These jewels and precious metals when
I settle in a ready state
Then ask, "Why do I hesitate?"
Is it because I don't have faith?
In my ability to co-create
And define my destiny? Profess my fate?
I sit up straight and contemplate
My quality of life I must inflate
On this subject I will meditate.
